Orchard Hill Ranch

English shepherds

2016 Litter at Six weeks

This week they have graduated to getting fed four times a day - morning, noon, suppertime, and bedtime.  They are more adventurous.  I often leave the back gate of the puppy pen open during the day so they can explore further afield.  A couple of them have figured out how to go out the back gate, around the house, and get to the dog door.  I've found two or three of them playing in the house more than once!  Can't say I blame them, it's been hot this week, and it's cooler in the house.  The week ended with a long walk through the orchard and tall grass meadow.  They took it all in stride, and had a great time running through the plum brush, nosing under the tall grass that was lying down, investigating all the new smells (deer pellets!!).  Taran and Tibbe especially were explorers, and I had to call them back a couple of times before they got lost.  They all come when I call them.  I spent about five minutes one day, working on "sit".  I had a bag of treats, and whenever one would sit, I would stuff a treat in their mouth.  Before long, they were all sitting, waiting for their treats.  Good pups!

They have become very mobile this week!  They follow me when I call them, and are happy to explore.  They just enjoy life!
